Import Duty Borne by the Government on Import of Goods and Material to Produce Goods and/or Services for the Public Interest and to Increase the Competitiveness of Certain Sectors

On 8 February 2018, the Minister of Finance issued regulation No. 14/PMK.010/2018 regarding Import Duty Borne by Government (‘BM DTP’) on Import of Goods and Material to Produce Goods and/or Services for the Public Interest and to Increase the Competitiveness of Certain Sectors, which is the amendment of Regulation No. 248/PMK.011/2014.

BM DTP can be granted with the provision that the Goods and Material are not yet produced within the country and are not Goods and Material subject to Import Duty of 0% based on an international agreement. This provision does not apply to import of Goods and Material by certain industry sectors determined by minister who conducts governmental affairs in the industrial sector. For the import of these Goods and Materials, a Certificate of Origin is not required.

A company can submit an application to the Director General of Customs and Excise which shall be submitted electronically or nonelectronically, through the Directorate General of Customs and Excise portal or the Indonesia National Single Window PortalIf the Portal is not yet operating, the application can be submitted manually
